Careers & Pathways

At St John Fisher College, we believe every young woman has the capacity to shape a future filled with purpose, confidence, and possibility. Our Careers & Pathways Program supports students from Year 7 to Year 12 as they discover their strengths, explore their interests, and develop the skills needed to thrive in a changing world. Guided by our Catholic values and inspired by the example of St John Fisher and Catherine McAuley, we encourage students to act with integrity, courage, and curiosity as they imagine the lives they hope to lead.

In the junior years, students begin to understand who they are as learners and as young people. Through a futures‑focused approach, they explore their emerging interests and develop essential capabilities such as communication, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and creative problem‑solving. These experiences help them see the connection between their learning and the world beyond school. By Year 9, students participate in the BECOME Program, which supports them to explore their strengths, values, and aspirations more deeply. Alongside this, the students take part in the Junior Education and Training (JET) planning process, beginning to shape their senior pathway with clarity and confidence.

As students enter the senior phase, they are supported to refine their goals and explore the pathways that inspire them. Career profiling, workshops, university experiences, industry engagement, and opportunities for real-world immersion help students deepen their understanding of their future options. Vocational education and micro‑credential opportunities allow them to build practical skills and gain real‑world insight. Throughout these years, students receive personalised guidance as they develop and review their SET Plans, ensuring they remain on track for their chosen post‑school pathway. Individual support with QTAC, scholarships, and tertiary or vocational pathways ensures each student feels prepared for the next step.
Guidance Grounded in Care
Our Program Leaders for VET and Careers & Pathways, together with our guidance counsellors, walk alongside students and families, offering expert advice and genuine care. Their knowledge of tertiary study, vocational training, and emerging industries ensures students receive clear, current, and personalised guidance. Working closely with teachers and leaders across the College, they help each young woman recognise her strengths, embrace her aspirations, and make informed decisions with confidence.

Empowering Every Graduate

A St John Fisher graduate leaves with a strong sense of purpose, a clear understanding of her options, and the confidence to step into the world with optimism and resilience. Through meaningful experiences, personalised support, and a curriculum shaped by a futures outlook, our students are empowered to lead, to contribute, and to create lives of impact and possibility.
