Shelterbox Appeal

Following the deadly explosion in Beirut, St John Fisher College and Rotary Aspley are joining forces to provide relief through an initiative called Shelterbox. The explosion has killed at least 170 people, injured 65000 and left 300,000 people without homes, decimating the city and livelihoodof locals.

Shelterboxes are large green boxes containing family-sized tents designed to withstand elements, providing emergency shelter to those affected, until they can rebuild their home. One shelter box costs $1100 and every dollar is one step towards providing the temporary shelter many families need in emergencies.

Kicking off the efforts with a good old fashion, coin line, the girls have raised $453 with the tally to continue as fundraising continues in term 4. To strengthen appeal efforts, the College will be running a radio campaign, calling on others to donate what they can to this worthy cause.
