St John Fisher College Bursary Fund
An initiative of a group of 2019 Year 9 students, this Fund has been established by the College, with the full support of the Principal, staff and current students. Realising and appreciating the opportunities their education provides, the founding students, set about to create a Bursary to make an education at St John Fisher College available for students whose families are experiencing financial hardship. Distributions for this fund will assist St John Fisher College in allowing students to start or continue their schooling at the College. A Bursary Committee has stewardship over disbursements made to the College, and is charged with the responsibility of awarding bursaries to students with the greatest financial need. For more information on the Bursary or to donate visit https://catholicfoundation.org.au/articles/endowment/st-john-fisher-college-bursary-fund/

The room was silent, and ears were pricked as Hollie spoke to the girls about her journey to date, reminiscing on her time at St John Fisher and how she came to be so passionate about working to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence.

Eva Hopewell shares her post-school journeyFisher’s focus on values and community definitely shaped how I interact with people in my career and life. Volunteering has given me the opportunity to network with a wide range of inspiring people and opened a lot of doors. Through university, travel and work, Ms Messer’s words still often ring true “You don’t have to be first best friends with everyone, but you do have to get along”.
Faith Led Me HereIt’s not often that you meet a young person with as much courage, commitment and determination as 2019 St John Fisher College graduate Alissar Azar. Fleeing from Syria, Alissar and her family joined the St John Fisher community in April 2018 with very limited English and the seemingly insurmountable challenge of completing senior school. Fast track two years and Alissar is now attending Flinders University in Adelaide, studying a Bachelor of Medical Science with dreams of one day becoming a doctor

On Par for SuccessAt 18, Ellen Chambers was fighting to get out of sand bunkers on the golf course. A decade on she is fighting to get others out of war bunkers. Ellen secured internships at other likeminded organisations such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies, in DC, and completed a stint at the Habbie Center in Jakarta.
